Netflix is looking to join other TV networks, like the Hallmark channel, as a platform for their own Christmas-themed TV movies. After testing the waters last year, Netflix will be premiering several brand new movies this year, to help get audiences in the holiday mood.

A Christmas Prince

According to Entertainment Weekly, the streaming service has announced three new films that will be premiering next month. One of these new movies will actually be a sequel to Netflix’s previous holiday movie that premiered last year. The original, A Christmas Prince, was well received by audiences, and has led to the new sequel called A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding. Reportedly taking place a year after the first film, this new movie follows the familiar characters as they prepare for a Christmas wedding and the responsibilities of royalty.

The Christmas Chronicles

Another holiday film that Netflix plans to release this year is The Christmas Chronicles. Starring Kurt Russel and directed by Chris Columbus, this bigger-budget film follows Kate (Darby Camp) and her brother Teddy (Judah Lewis), as they attempt to catch Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) on film. Naturally though, these sneaky attempts lead to the characters stowing aboard Santa’s sleigh and complicating Christmas.
