First, she led the Stockton Kings to a first-round playoff bye, now Lindsey Harding is being rewarded for her team’s success.

The first-year head coach of the affiliate of the Sacramento Kings has been named the NBA G League Coach of the Year. Harding left led the Stockton Kings to a 24-10 record.

The award is voted upon by NBA G League coaches and general managers.

Previous Stockton Kings head coach Bobby Jackson departed the team last summer to join Nick Nurse’s coaching staff in Philadelphia. Jackson spent the last two seasons with the Stockton Kings, leading the team to a 25-7 record last season. Tom Hankins, head coach of the Indiana Mad Ants head coach, and Kasib Powell, head coach of the Sioux Falls Skyforce head coach, finished second and third in voting, respectively.

Before she was tapped to lead the Stockton Kings, Harding spent the previous four seasons with Sacramento as an assistant coach and player development coach.

Lindsey Harding was the first overall pick for the Phoenix Mercury in 2007. After a nine-year career in the WNBA, she transitioned into the role of a player development coach with the Philadelphia 76ers. She then joined the Sacramento Kings organization as an assistant coach/player development coach.

The Stockton Kings first playoff game takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 4, Adventist Health Arena, formerly the Stockton Arena.
