Try Asparagus Ice Cream! Plus, More Fun Things to Do This Weekend!

Now that the weather is finally nice again (yay!)… there’s LOTS of things to do around Sacramento this weekend!

Have you ever wanted to try Asparagus Ice Cream? You can all weekend long at the San Joaquin Asparagus Festival! You can also enjoy deep-fried asparagus, bacon-wrapped asparagus, asparagus lumpia, asparagus corn dogs, asparagus burritos and more. In addition to yummy food, you can enjoy live music, monster truck rides, a petting zoo and more! It’s happening now through Sunday, April 16, at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds from noon to 7 p.m.

UC Davis is hosting its annual Picnic Day tomorrow. Events begin at 9am and go until 5pm. The popular Doxie Derby and the Chemistry Show are back. There will also be an animal science petting zoo and a polo match, plus live music and food trucks. Sound fun! Here’s the link for more info.

Celebrate your Scandanavian heritage with food, music, and more at the 39th Annual Sacramento Scandinavian Festival! It takes place Saturday at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center on H Street. More info here!

If you love reptiles, the Sacramento Reptile Show is back at Cal Expo on Saturday and Sunday, with a huge reptile display of 45 venomous species from around the world including King Cobras and Black Mambas. You can also meet a 10 foot, 100-pound alligator. Details here!

Sacramento Theatre Company is hosting the Sacramento Theatre Arts Festival on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring workshops, performances, vendors and a silent auction. Details here!
