The Milestone Grace Hit Last Night That Made Me A Little Sad

Someone get me some tissue

Had a pretty emotional night last night as our kids hit another milestone.

Parents you know… there are so many milestones, right? Some are so exciting and amazing… and other make you a little sad. There’s walking, talking, getting out of bottles, when your child is potty trained! All, very exciting!! Going through their old clothes they’ve outgrown… that can be kinda sad and now for us… another kinda sad milestone… when both of your kids are in BOOSTER SEATS!!

Last night we said goodbye to our daughter’s 5 point harness car seat. Even though she’s 4, she’d outgrown the thing. I mean, she had to take her coat off just so we could buckle her in. So, it was time for an upgrade. So, we bought her a brand new booster seat and then went to the garage to get rid of her car seat. And, that’s when it hit me. Like a ton of bricks. We’d had this car seat since 2011. Since our seven year old Jackson was about a year and a half. It was the first big boy car seat he had after his infant carrier and then it was passed onto our daughter when she outgrew the same infant seat her brother had used.

And, even though it’s FILTHY! I mean stained, stinky, filled with crumbs and glitter and God only knows what else, it was sad to see it out of the car and replaced with a big girl seat. I mean, she’s now one step away from just riding in the back seat with nothing but a seat belt.

And, while I was teary eyed and telling everyone clearly it was time for another baby, Dan was not nearly as nostalgic. As soon as I snapped a picture of the kids with the car seat, he snatched it up and slam dunked it into the trash…

So… I guess that settles that!
