Mark Salling’s ‘Glee’ Coworkers Offer Mixed Responses To His Suicide
One of Mark Salling’s former “Glee” castmates felt little sympathy, saying on Twitter, “I don’t feel sorry for him. Only sorry for his fans.”

Mark Salling‘s surprising suicide caught many people off-guard earlier this week.
While suicide is never the answer, there are plenty of mixed reactions to his death due to his child pornography conviction. Unsurprisingly, Salling’s former Glee castmates and coworkers have had the hardest time processing what has just happened…
According to Billboard, a few people that worked on the show have spoken out about the actor’s death. Some, like stars Matthew Morrison and Iqbal Theba, are clearly feeling the sting of his loss. Theba shared some poignant messages on his Twitter, saying:
“His death is painful for me Some of u might know him for only his flaws but I also knew him as someone who was great to work with & was kind to my kids. I truly wish he’d fought his demons &atoned himself & came out a winner. May we all find solace in some of his gentler memories”
Morrison took a different approach, and shared a photo of himself with Salling and another deceased castmate, Cory Monteith.
Actor Finneas O’Connell, who portrayed the character Alastair in the final season, was less forgiving. He said in a post:
“I met Mark Salling Once when we were filming the final episode of Glee together. I didn’t know him at all and I won’t pretend I did. It’s been a horrifying thing these past two years finding out about the crimes he’s committed. I don’t feel sorry for him. Only sorry for his fans.”
The show’s vocal coach, Tim Davis, tried to explain his conflicting feelings about Mark as best he could. He said in two Twitter posts:
“Today we lost another #Glee cast member.Yes, he committed crimes against children.Yes, it’s horrific. But #MarkSalling was a broken man, no doubt an abuse victim himself. I loved Mark, and am sad when I consider the devastation of his parents. PLEASE withhold your cruel comments.”
“Let me be clear. Having compassion for #MarkSalling in no way minimizes his crimes, nor does it minimize the pain and devastation of the victims of those crimes. I’m just saying stop adding to his family’s pain. This was their son. If you’re without sin, feel free to cast stones.”
Regardless of his actions, we do wish the best to Mark Salling’s family during this difficult time.
