Mariah Carey Almost Turned Down Recording “All I Want For Christmas Is You”

We’re glad she didn’t!

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is one of the most played Christmas songs and was also made into a kids’ book, a line of holiday ornaments and a brand new movie. Wow! Here’s the crazy thing. Mariah says she didn’t even want to do the song in the first place. In an interview with Billboard she said, “I felt like it was a little bit too early in my career to be doing a Christmas album. And then…I decided to do it. I’m very thankful that people seem to still have an attachment to it. It makes me feel good when people tell me that it’s part of their lives. The crazy thing about it is, every year it tends to increase in popularity.”
