The tax deadline is fast approaching and while most Californians have until October 16th to file their taxes for 2022, most experts say you probably shouldn’t wait until then.

One reason to not delay…free help preparing your taxes is available now, but won’t be as easy to get after April 15.

United Way California Capital Region will host its final “Super Saturday” walk-in tax prep clinic on April 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grant Union High School.

The IRS is also offering help through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, but that program will close soon after April 18. If you earned less than $60,000 in 2022, you qualify and should make an appointment ASAP. If you made more than $60,000, you can also file both state and federal returns for free at myfreetaxes.com using self-guided software.
