It’s beginning to look like Christmas in Sacramento. The State Christmas tree is arriving on the West Lawn of the State Capitol building today.

The approximately 60-foot white fir was harvested near Camino earlier this morning, instead of the usual place the State Capitol gets its Christmas tree each year, the LaTour Demonstration State Forest near Redding. Bad weather caused a change of plans and forest.

Once it’s fully set up and secured, it will be decorated with ornaments made by children and adults with developmental disabilities and will feature around 10,000 LED lights. The big tree-lighting ceremony is set for December 1st and we will have more details for you as we get closer!
