Hitting on your coworkers is never a good idea. However, Ryan Seacrest had to learn that the hard way when he flirted with Katy Perry without realizing he was on live TV…

According to Decider, the American Idol revival has been full of weird and awkward moments. While Katy Perry is often the one causing the awkwardness, Ryan Seacrest decided it was his turn in a recent episode.

During Sunday night’s taping, the host tried flirting with Perry while standing at the judges table. However, his choice of words was very uncomfortable to say the least.

After first complimenting Perry’s mother for being pretty, the singer tried to play it off, saying:

“My mom? Well, I hope the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”

While it should have ended there, Seacrest just kept going. He responded:

“You are too, but you’re not a mom yet.”

When Perry confirmed that, yes, she is not yet her mother, Seacrest continued even further and asked if she wanted to talk about it. By this point, the other judges must have been unable to handle the secondhand embarrassment, and they stepped in. Seacrest was left standing in awkward silence before the show limped forward.

However, the worst part was that the entire thing was live on camera. Perry even pointed out to Seacrest that they were live when the host first began his uncomfortable flirting. For whatever reason though, he ignored it and is now getting blasted online.

With the sexual harassment allegations the host is already facing, many people found Seacrest’s behavior to be super creepy.
