Can you imagine having to weigh yourself in front of your entire family before and after a holiday dinner? Well, that’s exactly what the royal family does every year for Christmas!

According to Fox News, Ingrid Seward, royal expert, confirmed that this is a very real tradition. Each family member weighs him or herself on antique scales upon entering the holiday Norfolk estate. Then, after turkey dinner, they step on the scales once again.

This will mark the first year that Meghan Markle and her mom, Doria Ragland, will partake in this custom, which dates back to the 20th century, when King Edward VII ruled. Don’t worry, though, this is, and always has, been done in good fun. The idea is to check and make sure all guests have been “well fed.”
