Retiring after 29 Years at the Drive Thru | Amanda & Darik

 He was supposed to just fill in for a couple of weeks as a favor to his friend, the manager. Art ended up outlasting them all.  Those two weeks turned into 29 years at the drive thru window in Wayzata, Minnesota. Now at 88 years he’s retiring again.  

He retired 30 years ago from his factory job, but it only lasted 3 months. “It was good – for three months,” Art says. “Then I was bored to death.”

Maybe this post retirement job was the secret to his health? An AARP study reported that almost half of their respondents planned to have retirement jobs and be a working senior into their 70s or beyond. The financial reasons for working after retirement are significant. But, many people also find jobs in retirement to be a source of fun and vitality.
