A Missouri woman named Ashely Despain recently took a trip to a prison to visit an inmate. However, she’s now about to become an inmate herself…

Fox News is reporting that Despain visited a jail in Nevada, Missouri with intention to give a Bible to a prisoner. While that might sound like a noble goal, Despain was hiding a big secret.

When a jail official went to inspect the holy book, he found both marijuana and methamphetamine hidden in the binding.

As Sheriff Jason Mosher explained to the Kansas City Star:

“Usually (a Bible) is something you bring to help somebody through situations. That’s probably the wrong kind of help, putting drugs in it.”

According to prison officials, they’ve seen many different items used to sneak contraband into jail. However, this is the first time they’ve seen someone try to smuggle some in through a Bible. Hopefully, it will be the last time as well.

Ashley Despain is currently being held in the Vernon County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
