Mariah Carey has a reputation to uphold. After her infamous performance last year, she’s been confirmed to perform at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest in Times Square for 2018. Carey has been scheduled as the headlining act, performing at the ball-drop.
She and Dick Clark Productions released a joint statement on Associated Press:
“We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018. See you in Times Square!”

Carey’s New Year’s performance last year went viral for going horribly wrong. She stopped singing while the pre-recorded track continued to play behind her. She blamed Dick Clark Productions for its technical difficulties, including a broken earpiece.
Seeing as how Mariah Carey now has something to prove, surely next year’s New Year’s performance will be mind-blowingly amazing.
Other acts that have been confirmed for New Year’s Rockin’ Eve 2018 so far include Nick Jonas, Camila Cabello, and Sugarland.
In case you missed it, here’s her performance from last year.
