Kim Kardashian showed up at the Met Gala in one of the most iconic dresses ever… the dress Marilyn Monroe wore when singing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to JFK in 1962.

Since the dress was on loan from the Smithsonian Museum, it could not be altered in any way. Kim had to lose 16 pounds to fit in it.
Kim told a friend, “I tried it on and it didn’t fit me,” she said. “I had three weeks and I had to lose 16 pounds… It was like a role. I was determined to fit into it. I don’t think they believed I was going to do it, but I did it.” How’d she do it? Kim gave details to Vogue magazine “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein,” she explains. “I didn’t starve myself, but I was so strict.” For the record, the dress was so tight on Marilyn in 1962, she had to be sewn into it right before she appeared in it at Madison Square Garden.

According to Vogue, Kardashian only wore the dress for a few minutes before changing into a replica so as not to damage the original. Afterwards, Kim posted on her Instagram Story about eating doughnuts and pizza after the Met Gala concluded. “Guys, I haven’t had sugar and carbs in… definitely three weeks. I’m so excited!”
