Northern California and the Sacramento Valley will possibly see some rain as remnants of Hurricane Hilary move across the state.

Forecasters tracking the Hurricane have seen the storm quickly pick up pace as it makes a path for Mexico. The rare pacific storm is expected to hit Southern California this weekend after it makes its way up Mexico’s Baja California peninsula. Officials are warning of the potential for flash flooding from San Diego to Las Vegas.

If Hilary does cross into Southern California it will likely be as a tropical storm…the first tropical storm to hit California since 1939. Flood watches for counties in Southern California will likely go into effect this weekend.

As the storm moves inland, the Central Valley will likely see rain and thunderstorms by Monday. As the storm breaks apart, Sacramento may see a few showers Monday and Tuesday.

It’s still hard to predict the precise track, and what intensity the storm will bring to SoCal. The NWS office in San Diego is warning of the “high potential” for flash flooding from the storm. About 26 million people in four states have been placed under flash flood watches for the hurricane, per weather.gov.
