Happy Memorial Day Weekend!  While we can never repay the debt we owe those who gave their lives in service of our country, but we can take time to remember and be thankful. A lot of businesses are going the extra mile to show gratitude to our military members, as well as first responders…..all the people who put their lives on the line for the rest of us. Here’s a few of the places offering freebies or discounts this Memorial Day!


California State Parks offering free admission to veterans, as well as active and reserve military members, on Memorial Day.
Participating parks include Bidwell-Sacramento River State Park, Brannan Island State Recreation Area, Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park and Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area.


Ace Hardware is giving away a million FREE American Flags to anyone who wants one. They’ll also send a flag to a local VFW Post for every free flag they give away.


Military, police, firefighters, EMTs & federal law enforcement agents can receive 15% discount (maximum value of $1.50), and seniors, 60 and older, can receive a 10% discount (maximum value of $1) on orders at participating locations. Both discounts need to be requested by the customer, and service members must show badge or be full uniform


Military and vets will be honored Monday, May 31 with a 15% dining discount for parties up to four.

Military personnel, firefighters, EMTs and police, with ID, can receive 20% off a dinner bill (food only) on Sunday, May 30 for “Sunday Military Appreciation.” More info here.
