Downtown Sacramento is so magical during the holidays…especially when you get to park for free!

In an effort to encourage us to shop and dine downtown, the City of Sacramento is turning off the parking meters in midtown and Old Sacramento after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.

The program runs through Christmas Day.

“Please note that the free parking zone will extend from “I” to “L” Streets and from Front Street to 29th Street, and only applies to metered on-street parking spaces.” according to The City of Sacramento website. “All other parking violations such as street cleaning and color zones are still enforceable as posted.”

Another option is to use the East End Garage on 17th Street between L Street and Capitol Avenue. The garage only charges a $2 flat rate after 4 p.m. weekdays, and all day on the weekends, excluding second Saturday (Dec. 12).
