October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and awareness of what’s going on in your body can save your life! A recent American Cancer Society study shows breast cancer deaths are down 43% since the 1980s, partially due to an increase in screenings and early detection. That’s why it’s recommended every woman get a screening once a year when they reach the age of 40. Have you had a mammogram recently? If not, you can get one for free. UC Davis is offering free mammograms for uninsured women every Saturday in October. Those interested should call 916-734-6145 to make an appointment.

Got your mammogram, but want to help other women? The 2022 Making Strides of Sacramento walk is this Sunday, Oct. 16, at the state capitol. You can register or donate on its website.
