The driver involved in the George Clooney scooter crash in Italy says he changed lanes because the sun was in his eyes.

The 67-year-old driver told the newspaper Corriere della Sera that he changed lanes because he couldn’t see. “I didn’t see anything, I had the sun in my eyes.”

Antonello Viglino says he stopped on the road, ready to turn left when Clooney crashed into his car, Sky News reports. A Surveillance camera caught the moment when Clooney’s bodyguard, who was driving in front of the actor, barely missed the car. Clooney slammed head-on into the vehicle.

It’s amazing when you see Clooney hurl into the air and smash the windshield with his helmet that he wasn’t severely injured. See the footage of the crash HERE.
