Celebrate Earth Day in Sacramento

This Saturday is Earth Day and the Sacramento area will be full of celebrations for Mother Earth.

The largest Earth Day event in the Sacramento region is Sacramento Earth Day! This year’s celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Sunday at Southside Park and is free to attend. This year’s theme is Grow Native and you’ll get all sorts of info about using native plants in your landscaping. Experts on native plant gardening and water usage will be available to advise, plus nurseries with native plants for sale will be on site. Also on site…healthy food vendors and lots of live music. Sacramento Regional Transit has been invited to provide free rides to/from the park and Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates will offer bike valet services. Get the flyer for your free ride here!

Aerospace Museum of California invites families to their Earth Day celebration this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum. Enjoy lots of hands-on STEM activities & crafts that will inspire guests to protect planet Earth. Plus, learn about historical aircraft played an important role in mapping oil spills during Operation Desert Storm, fighting forest fires, and conducting oceanographic research to better predict cyclones and monsoons.

Stockton’s Earth Day Festival returns Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Victory Park. Enjoy an eco-arts village, plus healthy food, and live music! They also will be planting 25 trees during the festival. If you’d like to help, contact the festival.

Earth Day kicks off National Park Week (goes on until April 30). This is one of many days free entry is offered at all National Parks. Parks across the country will be host special program and events. This Earth Day (April 22), if you want to roll up your sleeves and pitch in with a project, look for a park that needs your help!
