Three inmates, John Anglin, Frank Morris, and Clarence Anglin, famously escaped from San Francisco’s Alcatraz prison in 1962, and it was thought they none of them survived.
Well, it turns out they may have all survived.
According to ABC 7, The San Francisco Police Department received a letter in 2013 from a man claiming to be John Anglin.
The letter wasn’t reveled to the public until it was recently leaked to a San Francisco TV station this month. Not even Anglin’s family was told about the letter.
The letter stated the the three men; John Anglin, Frank Morris, and Clarence Anglin all survived after escaping from Alcatraz.
The writer claimed the he is the only one still alive and that Frank Morris died in 2008, and Clarence Anglin died in 2011.
The writer went on to say that he will reveal his location if he won’t go to jail right away and can receive medical attention for his cancer.
The FBI performed tests to find out if the letter was legitimate, but they came back as inconclusive.
