Mel B is an adamant believer in journaling as a form of self-therapy. After years of venting on paper, she feels she has enough material to publish as a book.

The book will mostly focus on her relationship with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte. The couple divorced in 2017 after 10 years of marriage. However, they are still tied up in a custody battle for their daughter, Madison, and Angel, Mel B’s daughter with Eddie Murphy.

During her guest spot on Loose Women, a British show, the ex-Spice Girl said:

“It’s the story mainly about the last 10 years. I’m kind of just exposing what I’ve been through the last 10 years. My marriage and relationship… quite the ups and downs.”

Mel B hopes that her book will help women who feel trapped in their relationships:

“[Writing] doesn’t upset me. It’s like going through therapy. I want to be able to be relatable enough where women can feel like they’re empowered. If they are in a bad relationship or they are a bit traumatized or feel trapped or it’s toxic or unhealthy, you can get out. I mean it took me nearly 10 years to get out, but I got out. I’m happy about that and I’m somewhat normal.”

Don’t expect any bad-mouthing of her exes, though. According to Music-News, her goal isn’t to slander their names:

“I’ve got three daughters by three different men, three different solid relationships. I would never want to talk bad about any of their fathers. We made beautiful babies together and all three babies were made with a lot of love. It’s more about my personal journey and what I put up with and what I allowed to happen.”
