It’s been two long years since news of a Disney’s The Little Mermaid live-action movie started spreading. The latest rumor is that Zendaya might be playing the lead role.
Disney, as expected, has been very secretive during the production process. All we know so far is that Alan Menken and Lin-Manuel Miranda are leading the project.

However, a source close to Disney told The Hashtag Show that Zendaya was offered the role of Ariel! Fans are already erupting at the news, noting that this casting would be a win for representation and diversity. Only time will tell if the news is true, but the support in the casting decision is abounding.
