Sources connected with the production tell TMZ, choosing Ariana Grande was tricky. It was a conscious decision to showcase “women, empowerment and perseverance in the face of adversity.” Only three other women have headlined the Music Festival — Beyonce, Lady Gaga and Bjork.
And we all know Ariana has been through an excessive amount of stress recently, but continues to show resilience. She always manages to pick herself up and continue on.
“Ariana is inspirational, and millions of people, particularly women, will connect with her,” one source put it.
Other acts tapped to perform at the two-weekend festival in Indio, California are Weezer, the 1975, Ella Mai, Solange, Billie Eilish, Kid Cudi, Diplo, Kacey Musgraves, Khalid, Janelle Monáe, Juice WRLD, Anderson.Paak and Aphex Twin.
The show will run for two weekends starting first on April 12-14 and again on April 19-21. Tickets go on sale January 4th.
