The Sacramento Zoo is ready to pack their boxes and move!  First, they need a new address.  The Zoo’s Board of Trustees met this week and officially decided to explore relocating to a bigger space.

It’s not just the lack of parking that is a problem. They say the current location in Land Park is not big enough, in need of repairs, and is causing them to get rid of some of it’s most popular animals.  They had to give away the tigers last year.

KCRA reports, “After its latest inspection in 2017, the association found the zoo is in need of major updates and renovations to keeps its accreditation.”

Where will the Zoo move?

The Zoo is asking the city of Sacramento for help.  Some suggestions include in nearby Natomas, or even the former Sleep Train Arena location.

Their next step is to meet with the Sacramento City Council next month.
