Every bride wants the perfect dress for her big day. While many choose to go to bridal store to find the one, some opt to design it themselves. However, one bride in England is taking her design to a new level by trying to create a very unusual wedding dress.

A Request For An Unusual Wedding Dress

The bride’s strange request came through on the garment production platform Sewport. For those who don’t know, the site helps clothing designers find manufacturers that can bring their designs to life.

However, even they were a bit surprised by the interesting request from the anonymous bride. They posted screenshots of the request, and it stated:

“I am looking for someone to recreate my mother’s wedding dress from 1953, which she wore when she married my father. My mother passed away recently and I’d like to create a special memento of her life. The dress will serve as this, however I need a specialist as the material I’d like to create it from is admittedly quite weird.

I found out my mother was ill in 2014 and from that point onward I began to collect her hair. At the time I wasn’t quite sure why I was collecting it, however now I think I do. I’d like the dress to be made from my mother’s hair intertwined into the dress design. I want the dress to be authentic to the time with the sleeves, bottom trim and neckline collar completely made from my mother’s hair. I’d also like the bodice around the midsection of the dress to have a lacy, floral design made with the hair.”

Searching For The Creator

With such an unusual request, it’s not a big surprise that this bride is willing to pay up for her dream dress. In fact, she’s offering up to £15,000 or roughly $20,000 for whoever can make it. The only stipulation is that the dress needs to be ready by August of 2019.

While it doesn’t appear that she’s found a match yet, Sewport is confident they’ll find someone who can help. And even though it’s a little weird, we wish her the best with her search!
