How Uber’s new technology could screen for drunk riders

Uber is working on a new feature that will try to let the driver know how drunk the person is before the pickup.

The company recently filed a patent for a new technology that would track its users’ ability to interact with the app to try and determine how impaired someone might be. Tthe new technology would be able to tell how fast a person can push buttons on the app, how fast they’re walking and where they are. For instance, if you’re moving slowly near an area with a lot of bars, you’d get a lower “user state” score allowing drivers to decide whether they want to accept your ride request.
