I can’t remember the last time I ate at a Marie Callender’s, but I do remember the food was good, and the pie was excellent. Unfortunately, due to the struggle to fill tables and the rising food and labor costs, the company has filed Chapter 11, again. This is the second time in eight years the Memphis-based company is finding themselves in this position. However, this time 29 restaurants – 10 Perkins and 19 Marie Callender’s – are closing for good.

The company hasn’t released an official list of closures, but according to The Sacramento Bee the Marie Callender’s on Sunrise Blvd. in Citrus Heights shut its doors yesterday (Monday 8/5).

Although there is a bit of good news. The location on Freeport Blvd. remains open.
