Thanksgiving Dinner Cost Is Down For Third Straight Year
The cost of Thanksgiving dinner for this year, despite many items being slightly more expensive, is actually cheaper than the past couple years.

Every year, the people over at The American Farm Bureau Federation do the research into what Thanksgiving dinner costs. This year, much like the last couple, the price is down. It’s been going down consistently, which is always good news for us as consumers. What costs what this year? We’ll break it down below.
Well, overall, the average cost for a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 people comes in at $48.90. That’s 22-cents less than last year, which makes it the lowest cost of Thanksgiving dinner since 2010. That’s also under 5-bucks a person! The big cost of Thanksgiving is of course the turkey, which costs about 3% less than last year. They’re saying the average price is about $1.36 per pound; the lowest price since 2014 on those.
Everything else that’s in a typical dinner make up the rest of the cost, obviously. The costs of milk, green peas, sweet potatoes, and rolls are all down this year as well. However, some things have actually gone up in price. Pumpkin pie mix, stuffing/dressing, and pie shells are all slightly more expensive than last year. Also, miscellaneous things (coffee, eggs, sugar, etc) are slightly up from last year as well. But luckily, the drop in prices of the big items make up for the increase of the small things and then some for this year. Check out more details on the price of Thanksgiving over here.
