Does your dog share your bed?

According to a new study, women who sleep with dogs get a better night’s rest.

Researchers found women who sleep with a dog by their side report less disturbed sleep and greater feelings of security and comfort. Although, that doesn’t translate to all animals. Women who sleep with cats didn’t show the same benefits, reporting as many sleep disruptions as those who share a bed with a human partner.

Dog owners also tend to get up earlier than cat owners.

The results, published in the Journal of the International Society for Anthrozoology, are based on self-reported data, and not have not been confirmed using an objective measure.
