Much like most of California starting charging you for plastic grocery bags to encourage customers to bring reusable bags, Starbucks is testing a paper cup fee at select locations in London.

The fee is about 7 cents a cup. Starbucks says they want to see if customers are willing to pay more to help the environment since its cups are apparently difficult to recycle and around a half a million cups are thrown away every day. Starbucks says it hopes the fee will encourage people to bring their own reusable mugs to avoid the fee.
