A couple in Southern California is sharing a happy moment together after losing everything when their home was destroyed by wildfire. The couple, who was married just eight months ago, were forced to leave their Santa Barbara County home quickly on Friday after a fast moving wildfire started near their home. Laura says she’d taken off her rings Friday night before having to be forced to evacuate with only their daughters and animals, having no time to grab anything else.

Now that the fire is 80% contained, the couple returned to what was left of their home Sunday and found Laura’s engagement rings while sifting through the rubble. The discovery was such a happy moment for them her husband got down on one knee and proposed again. She said, “It put everything into perspective…. it took all the pain away and reminded me of what matters in life: the people around you.”
