‘Riverdale’ Is Combining With ‘Breakfast Club’ In New Flashback Episode

The twists and turns of Riverdale are ramping up in a new flashback episode for the show’s third season. Featuring the parents of the Riverdale leads, the episode promises to keep the show’s signature darker tone and conspiracy-filled plot that has become synonymous with the series.
According to Nylon, the show-runner, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, spoke about the upcoming episode at a TV Critics Association panel. He revealed that the fourth episode of the season will be titled “The Midnight Club”, as an homage and take on the classic John Hughes movie, The Breakfast Club. “We’re going to learn about a really, really dark secret in Riverdale that the parents have been keeping since they were in high school,” Aguirre-Sacasa explained. It was also reported that the main, younger cast of the show, including KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Cole Sprouse, and Camila Mendes, will be playing their onscreen parents in the flashback episode.
This episode concept reportedly has the whole cast, including the Riverdale parents, excited. The former teen stars of the 90’s, Luke Perry, Mädchen Amick, and Skeet Ulrich, have all expressed their support for this Riverdale take on the classic teen movie. With mysteries being a staple of the show, fans are now left wondering how Molly Ringwald, who also stars in the show, will factor into this Breakfast Club style episode.
