New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season Might Be Coming Later Than Originally Thought
The final season of Game of Thrones might be releasing later next year than originally thought.

Although early reports and rumors for the season 8 premiere of Game of Thrones pointed to a possible early 2019 release, fans may be disappointed to learn that the date will most likely be later next year. New information has been released, that puts to rest the rumors that an April 2019 date might see the release of the final season of Thrones.
Yahoo News reports that the visual effects supervisor for the show, Joe Bauer, addressed the Emmy eligibility for season 8 of Game of Thrones. “In two years we’ll be eligible for the Season 8 work,” he explained, “which we’re just beginning now.” This would indicate that the majority of the six episode season will be aired after May 31, 2019, which is the cutoff date for the eligibility of the 2019 Emmy awards.

Bauer then went on to add that: “We’re going to be toiling away on Season 8 until May of 2019, so it’s eight or nine months away.” “But the prequel is starting to shoot in February, at least the pilot. So we’ll still have quite a lot to do on Season 8 when they’re beginning.” With May being the expected date for finishing the visual effects of season 8, the premiere would most likely be announced for a date near or after the end of May.
