Netflix Creating Follow-Up To Popular Series ‘Making A Murderer’
The massively popular 2015 Netflix series ‘Making a Murderer’ is getting a follow-up series, ‘Convicting a Murderer.’ The docu-series will re-examine Steven Avery’s case from a different perspective.

The massively popular 2015 Netflix series Making a Murderer is getting a follow-up series, Convicting a Murderer.
The original show centered around Steven Avery, a man convicted of sexual assault and attempted murder in 1985. Avery was exonerated 18 years later, but was then charged with murder two years after. His story stirred a lot of controversy. One of the biggest theories viewers had was that local cops framed Avery and set him up, reports Nylon.
In response to the controversy, a new filmmaker, Shawn Rech, is shedding new light on the story. Convicting a Murderer shows the case from the prosecution’s side. The series will follow District Attorney Ken Katz and lead investigator Tom Fassbender, as they go through the case. The hope is that the story will be more evened out. Especially because, when Making a Murderer was created, much of the law enforcement could not or would not participate. Rech said in a press release:
“This docu-series will examine the case and the allegations of police wrongdoing from a broader perspective. It will also share with viewers the traumatic effects of being found guilty and vilified in the court of public opinion.”
There’s no set date for the release just yet. However, the original creators of Making a Murderer are working with Netflix to create new episodes. They’re due out sometime this year.
