Michael Bublé had to go through one of the hardest things as a parent: see his child undergo a battle with cancer. Now that his 4-year-old son, Noah, is better, he’s opening up about the harrowing experience.

“I’ve been to hell,” the singer told Herald Sun. “I don’t talk about the whole story, not even to my friends because it hurts too much. It’s my boy. He’s a superhero, he doesn’t need to relive it over and again. But I’ve been to hell. And you know what, hell seems like a really nice place to vacation compared to where we’ve been.”

While Noah was undergoing procedures for his cancer, Bublé considered retiring to look after his family. “Family is what matters. The health of my children is No. 1,” he continued. “The relationship with my family, my wife, my faith — all of it is easily No. 1.”

Bublé and his wife, Luisana Lopilato, first publicly announced Noah’s cancer diagnosis in November 2016. He received treatment for 18 months, with his last in March 2017.

Lopilato said during an interview at the time, “There were nights I couldn’t sleep, that I prayed to God. Because it is a long process — but thank God the worst is over.”

Of course, while Bublé and Lopilato are thankful for their son’s recovery, they still remain cautious. “It’s cancer so obviously we have to monitor it but I wouldn’t be doing this if he wasn’t okay,” Bublé said.
