Mariah Carey‘s Christmas classic is charting higher on the Hot 100 than it ever has!

According to Billboard, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is now in the Top 10 for the first time, hitting No. 9 on the chart. While it’s been 23 years since the song’s release, it’s never been able to peak higher than No. 11.

Carey explained her excitement over the song’s success this year, saying:

“This is such an amazing Christmas gift! As a songwriter, I feel so honored to have this song reach Billboard’s [Hot 100] top 10 for the first time. I honestly never thought we’d be talking about this happening, but I’m so thankful to everyone who embraces this song as part of their holiday tradition. It truly warms my heart, and I am proud of this song that I wrote basically as a kid on my little Casio keyboard.”

In other good news for Mariah Carey, the song has given her her 28th Top 10 hit. This ties her with Stevie Wonder for the fifth-most Top 10s in Billboard history!

In slightly weirder news, this is the first song with “Christmas” in the title to ever reach the Top 10.
