In France, there was a child hanging from a balcony. A guy who saw what was happening climbed 4-stories to rescue that child. He’s being called a real-life “Spider Man,” and was just granted French citizenship.
Mamoudou Gassama is just 22 years old. He is from Mali originally, but has Italian citizenship papers. He just moved to France a couple months ago where he wants to start his life. He was out, walking around, when he came across the scene. A child was seen hanging from a balcony. The kid was basically about to fall, and “dangling” is probably a more appropriate term. Mamoudou says he didn’t even have time to stop and think, he just reacted. He ran across the street and started climbing up the balconies of the building. Within seconds he made it up 4 floors to save the child. Check out the video:

Some seriously impressive climbing skill right there, And probably a lot of adrenaline going on as well. Honestly, I couldn’t keep track just watching, he was making his next move when I was just catching up to what he had just done. Mamoudou said “I just didn’t have time to think, I ran across the road to go and save him… I just climbed up and thank God, God helped me. The more I climbed the more I had the courage to climb up higher, that’s it.” The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, was quick to meet with Mamoudou, and actually granted him citizenship. President Macron said “You saved a child. Without you, no one knows what would have become of him… You need courage and the capability to do that.” The President then gave Mamoudou a gold medal, and also offered him a job as a firefighter.
