John Legend Replaces Jennifer Hudson As Coach On ‘The Voice’

“The Voice” is shaking up its coaches

John Legend has signed on to take Jennifer Hudson’s spot as a coach for Season 16 of “The Voice.”

NBC announced Legend will join Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton as mentors. Carson Daly will also be back hosting the show.

“I’m thrilled to join the coaches of The Voice,” he said in a statement, reported by Entertainment Tonight . “I’ve been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL.”

The news comes just days after Legend cemented his EGOT status when he won an Emmy as producer for “Jesus Christ Superstar” in which he also sand and acted. Legend won an Oscar for his original song “Glory” featured in the movie “Selma.” Additionally, he won a Tony as producer for “Jitney,” and 10 GRAMMYs.

Legend will replace Jennifer Hudson who is coaching Season 15 of “The Voice” which kicks off September 24th.
