Jennifer Aniston shared insight in her life and philosophies in a recent interview with Elle.
Since stepping into the limelight from her role as Rachel in Friends, Aniston’s life has been on public display. As such, everyone knows about her past marriages. She was married to Brad Pitt from 2000 to 2005, and more recently to Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2017. Though those relationships ended in divorce, the actress doesn’t see them as failures by any means:
“My marriages, they’ve been very successful, in [my] personal opinion. And when they came to an end, it was a choice that was made because we chose to be happy, and sometimes happiness didn’t exist within that arrangement anymore.”

Aniston continued to say that it would have been much worse to simply stay with someone out of fear. “Sure, there were bumps, and not every moment felt fantastic, obviously, but at the end of it, this is our one life and I would not stay in a situation out of fear. Fear of being alone. Fear of not being able to survive. To stay in a marriage based on fear feels like you’re doing your one life a disservice.”
