Hilary Duff signed on to play the late Sharon Tate in an upcoming film. The movie, called The Haunting of Sharon Tate, covers the final days of her life.

Sharon had a highly publicized death in the ’60s. The actress, married to director Roman Polanski at the time, was brutally murdered by Charles Manson while eight months pregnant.

The movie was inspired by a quote from Sharon in an interview a year before her death. Deadline reports that she said she had “dreams about ghosts haunting her house and [she could foresee] her own death at the hands of a satanic cult.”

Hilary posted a picture on Instagram of her as Sharon, and the resemblance is seriously uncanny. She captioned the post:

“Had the incredible opportunity of playing Sharon Tate the past two weeks in an independent movie. She was an amazing woman and it was a true honor.”

While many are supportive of Hilary in this role, Sharon’s sister, Debra, has the opposite reaction. She told People:

“It doesn’t matter who it is acting in it, it’s just tasteless. It’s classless how everyone is rushing to release something for the 50th anniversary of this horrific event.”

Debra also expressed that Sharon never had nightmares about her death:

“I know for a fact she did not have a premonition—awake or in a dream—that she and Jay would have their throat cut. I checked with all of her living friends. None of her friends had any knowledge of this. Tacky, tacky, tacky.”

So far, there’s no word of when to expect the movie’s release.
