Lady Bird writer-director, and beloved Sacramento native, Greta Gerwig has been recognized by Time as one of its 100 Most Influential People of the year.  The list, now in its fifteenth year, recognizes the activism, innovation and achievement of the world’s most influential individuals.

According to the magazine,

“TIME’s annual list of the world’s most influential people is a designation of individuals whose time, in our estimation, is now. The TIME 100 isn’t a measure of power, though many on the list wield it. Nor is it a collection of milestones accumulated. As our staff considers candidates, we often find ourselves wowed by those with stunning lifetime achievements. But editorial director Dan Macsai, maestro of the TIME 100, brings us back to the key question: Was this their year?”

Also, it’s a very diverse list. From world leaders like Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un to people like Houston Texans J.J. Watts, who helped raise $37 million to rebuild Southeast Texas after Hurricane Harvey.

Also among the nominees are Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, Invasion of Privacy rapper Cardi B., Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown and Jimmy Kimmel.
