Fans Think Gordon Ramsey’s New Show Is An Anthony Bourdain Rip-Off
Many are pushing back after hearing about Gordon Ramsey’s new TV show, ‘Uncharted.’ One of the biggest problems they have with it is that the premise sounds exactly like ‘Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.’

Many are pushing back after hearing about Gordon Ramsey’s new National Geographic TV show, Uncharted. Why? The premise sounds very, very similar to Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.
Uncharted will feature Ramsey trotting the globe “on anthropology-through-cuisine expeditions,” reports PopCulture. In each episode, the chef will be “pitting his own interpretations of regional dishes against the tried-and-true classics” then ending with a “friendly competition with local chefs and foodies.”
Many worry how Ramsey will handle opening a respectful dialogue with foreign chefs, speaking about their culture and food. After all, he essentially became famous for his intense, no-nonsense demeanor.

“I imagine the pitch for this went something like: ‘It’s like Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown except instead of honoring people’s cultures, he’s there to appropriate it in the most imperialistic and insulting way possible,” one Twitter user commented.

Chef Eddie Huang further wrote: “the last thing the food world needs right now is Gordon Ramsay going to foreign countries showing ‘locals he can cook their cuisines better than they can’.”

Anthony Bourdain was found dead by suicide on June 8 in France, where he was filming Parts Unknown. Though cremated in France, his ashes were to his brother in the States.
