Donations have been pouring in to a GoFundMe account set up to help Gilligan’s Island star Dawn Wells.

The fundraiser was launched by a longtime friend to help the ailing star pay for medical and  tax bills. The goal was $194,000. In the seven weeks since it launched, it surpassed the goal and is inching close to $200,000.

Initially, Wells was hesitant to accept the help. However, her rep told Fox News, “She has decided to gratefully accept the money and considerable effort is being made to see that it is used to the best possible usage.” As for her health, “Every day is a little better — she has therapy almost every day and she is off the walker now, graduating to a cane with the goal of eliminating that.”

When her friend Doug Kirkpatrick created the GoFundMe account he wrote, “After 2008, like many of us, Dawn suffered through the banking crash and lost everything including her life savings in addition, to a life -threatening surgery which came close to killing her. Dawn was a victim of an unexpected accident that required hospitalization for two months and a very long time to rest and heal.”

Wells and Tina Louise, (Mary Ann and Ginger) are the only two surviving members of the “Gilligan” cast.

Wow! I am amazed at the kindness and affection I have received from the current outpouring in regards to the Go Fund…
