Geoffrey Owens Says He Still Shops At Trader Joe’s Since Job Shaming

Geoffrey Owens revealed that he has returned to shop at Trader Joe’s on several occasions, since the job shaming controversy earlier this year.

Geoffrey Owens has shared that he still enjoys shopping at Trader Joe’s, two months after the viral pictures of him working their led to him being job shamed.

The Cosby Show actor was thrust back into the spotlight two months ago, when photos taken of him bagging groceries at a Trader Joe’s, went viral and resulted in him being job shamed. However, many people soon flocked to Owen’s defense, including Tyler Perry and Nicki Minaj. The outpouring of support even led to Owen’s being offered acting work from Perry.

According to People, Owen’s still holds high respect and appreciation for Trader Joe’s. “I’ve gone back to visit the folks about five times since this happened,” he said. “In fact, I even went back and asked my boss, ‘Hey, are we still good for me coming back?’” “I figure, if there’s ever a day that I’m not working, I’d like to go back to Trader Joe’s and actually work a day,” he continued. “I actually talked to him about that a couple of weeks ago. It’s great. They’re great people.”

Owens went on to share his thankfulness for the opportunities to return to acting and working with Tyler Perry. He also described how people have approached him since the incident and thanked him for how his story and attitude has inspired and encouraged them.
