Every hour a person dies from melanoma in the U.S. This year, UC Davis hopes to lower the rates of skin cancer by installing sunscreen dispensers around Roseville and Davis.
The goal of the dispensers is to make sunscreen accessible and provide a visual cue to to reapply. The 6-foot-tall white and blue sunscreen stations are part of the UC Davis Health summer safety project, according to the Sacramento Bee.
There are 16 SPF 30 stations are positioned around eight parks and centers in Roseville:
- Johnson Pool
- Kaseberg Park
- Mahany Park
- Maidu Regional Park
- Roseville Aquatics Complex (shade tower)
- Roseville Sports Center
- Vernon Street Town Square
- Woodcreek Golf Club
Several more free sunscreen stations can also be found at five Davis locations:
- Central Park
- Community Park
- Playfields Sports Park
- Slide Hill Park
- UC Davis Arboretum
Remember to reapply every 2 hours.
