Curtis Gaessar, a music teacher at Folsom High School, could have “Grammy Winner” under his list of accomplishments this year.

He has made it through as one of ten finalists across the nation for the Grammy’s Music Educator Award. The award honors “teachers who have made significant and lasting contributions to the field of music education,” according to KCRA.

His students have nothing but praise for his teaching.

One of his students, senior Andres Swanson, said:

“Honestly, not surprised at all because he’s one of the hardest working people I know.”

There is a local Grammy event in San Francisco this weekend he’ll attend. If he wins the Grammy, he’ll not only win money for himself, but also for his school.
