If you’re a fan of the legendary singer Prince, some extremely rare music of his is now up for sale.
According to Billboard, five copies of his infamously cancelled album, The Black Album, were recently found by a record label employee.
Recording for the album took place in the mid 80s as a followup to the album, Sign o’ the Times. However, Prince thought there was a hidden evil lying in the music and abandoned the project.
Although his label, Warner Bros., initially agreed to not release the album, they later caved in to fan pressure and released it on CD and cassette in 1994. While it’s widely believed that Prince had all vinyl records of the album destroyed, some managed to survive.
Due to how few vinyl copies exist, it’s now one of the rarest and most valuable records in history.
However, an unnamed Warner Bros. employee recently uncovered sealed copies of the album inside two old Warner mailers. They’re currently on sale on the website Recordmecca for anyone wanting to snag a copy. Unfortunately, you’ll need to shell out a whopping $15,000 if you want one.
Prince memorabilia sure sells for quite a lot!
