The popular feel-good show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, will be returning to TV as a brand new reboot.

According to Good Housekeeping, the wholesome home renovation program is set to return in 2020. The show originally aired on ABC, and the reboot will be making its debut on HGTV.

The HGTV website reveals that 10 all-new episodes will be produced for this series reboot. The show promises to keep to the formula of gifting a custom home renovation to a “very deserving family.” As of now, no official cast has been announced, although fans of the original series will no doubt press to have Ty Pennington return as the host.

Although the wait time until 2020 may seem substantial, HGTV has also received the rights to rebroadcast 100 episodes from the original series. These episodes, spanning from 2003-2012, may help tie fans over until the new series premieres. Kathleen Finch, chief lifestyle brands officer for Discovery, expressed her excitement for the production of the new series. “It was really a pipe dream for a while,” she explained, “and we are really looking to make it all come true.”

What do you think about this reboot of the fan-favorite series? Who would you like to see return for the show?
