Downtown Sacramento Bridal Shop Closing After Nearly 60 Years In Business

It’s always sad to see a local business close, especially when they’ve been around for so long. But after 58 years, it’s time to say goodbye to House of Fashion Bridal Salon & Tuxedo in midtown. According to the Sacramento Bee, the store will close at the end of November.
Husband and wife owners, David and Karen Murai, said business has been declining recently. David also mentioned that it’s time for the 75 and 72 year olds to retire.
They cited the growing trend of internet shopping as part of the reason for the loss of business. “Like a lot of other brick-and-mortar stores, in the bridal industry, girls would come in to try on gowns … then go out and buy it on the internet.” Additionally, they believe that younger people are waiting longer to get married and are more interested in saving money with simple ceremonies.
“I’m really, really sad to be leaving [House of Fashion Bridal Salon]. If there was a brighter picture ahead, I’d try to stick it out more, but we’ve been trying to stick it out for 15 years.”
